Agriculture is a cornerstone of local livelihood and economic development in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality. Blessed with fertile lands and access to agricultural infrastructure, RMLM has prioritised support for smallholder farmers and agri-entrepreneurs across rural communities.

Guided by the LED Strategy and District Development Model, our key agricultural focus areas include:

  • Supporting emerging farmers and land reform beneficiaries
  • Improving food security and access to markets
  • Promoting value-chain development and agri-processing

Key agricultural pillars in RMLM include:

  • Monthly Cow Auctions that support livestock trade and income generation for rural farmers
  • Silos in Groot Marico, an established hub for bulk storage, maize and vegetable production
  • Contemporary agri-commercial businesses like:
  • Nongo’s Joint (cannabis and hemp production)
  • Tomato Green Farmers Market (resale opportunities for local farmers in Dinokana)
  • Moyo’s Empire Projects, led by Thembinkosi Goodwill, who supplies morogo to local Pick n Pay stores
