    Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality respond on the impact of recent floods in Moshana village
    The Mayor of Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality; Councillor Dina Pitso has noted with concern and grief the severity of the impact of the recent heavy rainfall storms that left some of Moshana residents homeless. Councillor Pitso accompanied by the Speaker, ward Councillor and the members of Traditional Council visited Moshana village to assess the state of flooded homes and meet affected families.
    The Municipality, taking into account the circumstances in the area, communicated with the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to combat disruptions and deal with other effects of the disaster in terms of Legislation.
    Some of the properties, infrastructure and the environment were destroyed as a result of heavy storms, flooding and strong winds.
    Councillor of Mosahana village, Cllr Ernest Pitso pleaded with other departments and stakeholders to help affected families with food and recreation. “We have tried all our best to help with tents from Disaster Management Department for
    temporary shelters as a remedial action while we are still waiting for help whilst and thinking about what can be done to help the victims further”, explained ward Councillor Pitso
    Semenyana Primary school teachers and pupils are experiencing difficulties of attending due to damaged school and other infrastructure. Teachers are pleading for help from any other departments and organization in order for leaners to go back to school and continue with their education.
    The Municipality will communicate developments with residents through Ward Councillors, mass media, website and social media platforms.
    However, no injuries or death have been reported after the disaster. Mayor Pitso further calls on businesses and other stakeholders to assist with relief materials such as food, mattresses and blankets. “The Municipality will continue to monitor the situation and urge communities to stay calm and have faith that they will get help”, says Mayor Pitso.
