Mayor Pitso disputes granting permission to illegal occupation on privately owned land
The Mayor for Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality; Dina Pitso has noted with concern a number of messages pertaining to her granting permission to community to occupy a privately owned land in ward 18, particularly in the context of the ongoing election campaign. She refutes such claims and regards them as a way of tarnishing her image.
“It has come to my attention that certain individuals or groups are exploiting the sensitive issue of land occupation for political gain. Let me be unequivocal in stating that any attempt to manipulate this situation for electoral advantage is not only unethical but also detrimental to the well-being of our municipality and its residents. My administration has consistently prioritized the fair and just distribution of land resources, ensuring that they are utilized for the betterment of our community as a whole. We have implemented comprehensive measures to address unlawful land occupation, including robust enforcement mechanisms and proactive engagement with affected parties”, she expresses.
“It is regrettable that some seek to sensationalize and politicize such matters, especially during this critical period of electioneering. Rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric, I urge all stakeholders to work together in a spirit of cooperation and unity to resolve any legitimate concerns related to land use and ownership.
Furthermore, I call upon those involved to refrain from exploiting this issue for personal or political gain. The integrity of our democratic process hinges upon fair and honest discourse, and we owe it to the citizens of Ramotshere Moiloa to uphold these principles.
In conclusion, let me reiterate my commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all residents are treated with dignity and respect. Together, we can overcome challenges and build a brighter future for generations to come”, advised the mayor.
Residents are encouraged to report any illegal, suspicious activities regarding land invasion or any misuse of municipal property to the office of the Municipal Manager and the Mayor.
