Mayor Pitso condemns the brutal killing of a woman in Ikageleng

The Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality Mayor; Dina Pitso has condemned the brutal killing of a 40-year-old woman in Ikageleng location. It is alleged that the 40-year-old Dipuo Phege was stabbed to death by her Zimbabwean National boyfriend over the weekend. It is also suspected that jealousy was the driving force behind the killing since it is believed that the suspect always snooped through the phone of the victim monitoring her messages and calls.

“It is very alarming to be experiencing this traumatic and tragic incident when we have just begun the month of celebrating women. I believe that Dipuo had her life planned ahead. No man has the right to take the life of a woman claiming to love that person. Where are we heading as the nation! Kwanele! It is enough! Women must actually feel safe around men and not intimidated or threatened in any way. I would like to convey my condolences to the entire family”, said the mayor.

Meanwhile, on Monday night; members of the community took out to the streets searching for the suspect who has gone into hiding and ultimately burnt down the shack belonging to his brother. “In as much as this incident has affected us in different ways, I would like to plead to the community to allow the police to do their work and not exacerbate the situation by taking the law into their own hands since that might lead to xenophobic attacks. Instead, those who might have any leads regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, I urge you to contact the relevant law authorities in order for him to be apprehended so that the family can find closure”, Pitso advised.
